Heba in Formal

I can't believe this semester ended and the next semester is the last semester in college at all! Years just pass and suddenly flash before our eyes, that's when you realize that you should make the most out of everyday so when you look back at the years, you feel sad because you miss the good days, and not because they were wasted.

This semester was concluded by my graduation mid-project presentation and indeed had to look so pro and all :P. I didn't want to buy a ready matched suit so I decided to set up mine using different pieces, and voila:

Purple Loving

The following are two of my outfits where I dressed up with a purple touch but in different shades.

My Oversized Skirt:

The skirt in the first outfit is a size 14! Which is 3-4 sizes bigger then mine. Well I did this because I was looking for a puffed skirt colored just like this one but found it nowhere except an online vendor who was sort of over-priced. So, i decided to buy a skirt multiple sizes bigger than mine and fastened it to my waist using a belt  and pulled it out from the sides to create the puff effect.

The Right Hijab (+ outfit details)

There are so many accounts on Instagram that post pictures of hijabi fashionistas, and many accounts owned by Hijabis posting their own OOTDs like myself. Personally I am the curious type who likes to go through people's comments and read what they got to say, sometimes I just get to some pictures or youtube videos to explore the comments! A comment very very common that I've seen so many times is "sister this is not Hijab" and believe me that is quite a brief version of that, there are some people who write lines and lines telling you the reason behind Hijab and how you are not fulfilling the purpose God set it for (I bet you've seen examples).
What I found quite interesting is the very broad scale of Hijab styles to which this comment was written starting from clearly tight garments to dresses, all labelled by some as "this is not right Hijab". But just before typing this comment randomly to someone, did you, even slightly, put in mind that this person might have a bond with Allah beyond what you could ever imagine? Just like Hijab is a command from God, there are basic Islamic ethics that Allah taught us through prophet Muhammed (SAWS) that if you are genuinely concerned about a Muslim, you speak to them in person and not condemn them that they are faulty in public.
I am not saying that all Hijab we see is right or all Hijab we see is wrong, I am not even in the position to judge or classify...but all I know is that people reach out to God in different ways and there are so many other things that make one represent Islam right other than "the right hijab" as they call it. Another thing that some people miss is that they're probably not the first people to try to 'guide' this person. Personally, every time I get a comment regarding my skinny jeans I want to tell the person that I know they are tight, and I know that it might not be the 'right' Hijab or completely modest, I am not denying this, but we have different levels of 'Iman' and will to exactly apply everything we are told is supposed to be done, and even different perspectives and intentions on every single matter. So as we say in Egypt, "سيبوا الخلق للخالق" or leave the matters of the created, to their creator.

The Outfit

I have got so many questions regarding this outfit's details. It got to me in the most random way! I was looking for a cape and just googled "buy capes online". I found this on a Korean clothes vendor's page and ordered it months ago (still looking for the link to answer those who asked me). It did not look the same in the picture though, and does not look like that anyway without the belt, yes, never underestimate the power of belts to turn one piece all around!!

My Exfoliators from the Kitchen!

Aside to my obsession with clothes, one of my hobbies is heading to the kitchen and start mixing stuff here and there for my skin care. I really love using natural ingredients to exfoliate, moisturize and refresh both my face and body skin. I've tried so so many things, some that worked, other that didn't but the best thing is that natural ingredients never harm you unless you use them in an absolutely wrong way. In this post I'll show you, not all, but my favorite natural exfoliators and explain to you how I use them. Just before I start, my skin is combination to normal. Another thing you should always remember that works on others might not work for you, or maybe what others swear by could be of no benefit to your skin type.
Other notes on Exfoliation:
  •   Don't do it too frequently, a MAXIMUM of 3-4 times a week is enough
  •   Avoid going out in the sun for an at least 45 minutes after exfoliating
  •  Use a toner after your done, as a fan of ingredients from the kitchen, rosewater is my all-time favorite!

So let's get goin' !

My Favorite: Baking Soda

Baking soda is a LOVELY exfoliator! All you need to do is get a small cup and put 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of water, or an amount that makes a paste. After having your paste using the tips of your fingers take some and put it on your face. Start scrubbing your face in circular motion* but don't press too hard so you don't harm yourself. Do that for about 3-5 minutes than rinse your face with lukewarm-cold water, don't use hot water since your pores are very sensitive after scrubbing and you don't want to open them so they do not collect dirt. Dry your face and notice the softer texture of your skin!

*Circular motion must always be used when exfoliating or applying moisturizers. Move your fingers in upward directions and never down, in other words make the circles towards the outside of the face not to towards your nose.

Honey:

Honey is usually not an exfoliator by itself, it is basically a pre-exfoliation agent . It is very good when you're trying to exfoliate for blackheads removal, but make sure the honey is very dense and sticky so it really collects dirt off your pores. Simple take the honey and again move in small circles for 5 minutes, you can press a little hard with honey as it is soft and wont harm you. After wiping it off or rinsing it, proceed to any of the other methods on this post.

Olive Oil & Brown Sugar

Get a small plate and put one tablespoon of brown sugar and another of olive oil and you're ready to go in circles again around your face. Again don't press too hard and do it for 3-5 minutes. Rinse of with lukewarm water.

Lemon and Salt:

1.5 tablespoon of lemon + 1 tablespoon of salt. Or depending on the type of salt, just make sure that the salt doesn't dissolve. You will do the same but since this mixture is very acidic, 2 minutes of scrubbing is enough. Again, rinse with lukewarm-cold water.
